REU Overview

TITLE: Undergraduate Research Experiences in Functional Materials
HOST: Center of Membrane Sciences
FOCUS: Development of basic skills required in a highly multidisiplinary environment. The students experience how to develop research ideas, how to search the literature for relevant information, how to perform experiments, how to evaluate their data critically, how to write research reports, how to communicate their findings with other scientists through group meetings, seminars, and national conferences, and how to give both oral and poster presentations.
DISCIPLINES: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and other relevant areas.
ELIGIBILTY: Undergraduate students who are US Citizens or permanent residents, and have completed their sophomore or junior year in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, or related fields.
SELECTION: Based on academic standing, future career aspirations, and faculty recommendations.
PROJECTS: The REU Selection Committee attempts to match REU students with faculty/projects that reflect preferences indicated in application materials for the research interests of the faculty. Please visit the Participating Faculty web page.
