STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES,
GUIDELINES & TECHNIQUES

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) has prepared Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Guidelines for use by principal investigators in their animal research. Pertinent SOPs and Guidelines may be used as an aid in preparing the IACUC Animal Care and Use Protocol Application forms, and should be referred to by name in the protocol application form.

The SOPs, procedures and guidelines offered are based on standards set forth by the federal Animal Welfare Act and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, as well as policies and procedures established by the University of Kentucky IACUC.

A Techniques page is also provided.   This page offers information and links to techniques on procedures which are developed and described by outside sources.  Additional techniques will be offered as they become available.
