Dr. Heidi Anderson is Professor and Assistant Dean for Education Innovation at the University of Kentucky (UK) College of Pharmacy. She holds the U.S. Surgical Endowed Professorship in Pharmacy Administration in the College. Dr. Anderson provides leadership with innovative teaching, learning and assessments methods. Faculty development is also a key area of her responsibility; she assists faculty in refining and utilizing active and innovative learning strategies, including distance learning. Another vital aspect of her role is being fully acquainted with all accreditation standards and guidelines that affect the college so that she may use the information gathered from these activities as guidelines to build upon the successes of the College and transform areas where growth should occur.
Prior to joining UK in 2002, she spent 12-years at Auburn University where she served as Chair of the Curriculum Committee in the School of Pharmacy and Head of the Department Pharmacy Care Systems. Dr. Anderson is a member of several organizations including: American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), American Pharmacists Association (APhA), and American Educational Research Association (AERA). She served as Chair of the AACP Social and Administrative Sciences section from 2000-2001. In 2004, she received the honor of being selected as a Fellow in the charter class of the AACP Academic Leadership Fellows program. Within APhA she has served in the House of Delegates, a member of various APhA committees. In 2005, Dr. Anderson was honored by being selected as a 2005 Fellow of the American Pharmacists Association (FAPhA) for outstanding service to the profession through APhA and other organizations. In the American Association of Higher Education, she has served as an invited participant at the Assessment Conference Research Forum and as a session presider at the Annual Assessment Conference.
She also was selected as a participant in the 2004 UK Circles of Power Leadership Program for Women. Dr. Anderson received her B.S. degree in Pharmacy, M.S. in Education and Ph.D. in Pharmacy Administration, all from Purdue University.
