Primary Research Focus: Characterization of the immune response of horses to various infectious and parasitic diseases with particular emphasis on the role cytokines play in regulating the protective immune response.
Key Contributions: Cloning, sequencing and expression of various equine cytokines. Development of a real-time PCR assay for the detection and quantitation of equine cytokine gene expression. The identification and characterization of protective immune responses to a variety of infectious disease agents. Characterization of cytokine gene expression in horses with recurrent airway obstruction. Characterization of the immune response of foals.
