Endowed Chair Plan Ensuring a Multidisciplinary Approach
The Center made its most far reaching move toward establishing a premier research center on violence against women by setting a goal to endow five chairs of study on violence against women.
This innovative model of an interdisciplinary research center endowing chairs through partnerships with diverse colleges across UK’s campus creates an outstanding interdisciplinary research environment, and positions the Center to be among the top of its kind in the nation. Each endowed chair is established at a minimum funding level of $1 million.
The comprehensive empirical study of violence against women cannot be achieved within a single discipline or by advancing research in a single area of science. As a result, the Center’s endowed chair plan establishes five chairs, each with a distinct area of scientific focus and each contributing to our understanding of the multifaceted dimensions of violence against women.
