In September 2002, the Patton Administration joined University of Kentucky President Lee T. Todd, Jr. to create a specialized Center for Research on Violence Against Women. Creation of the Center grew out of a recognized need to strengthen research and graduate education on domestic violence, rape, stalking and related crimes against women. Approval for establishment of the Center was granted by the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees in February 2003.
