Graduate School Diversity Profile
Second-year graduate student Brandon Townsend was recently named a Lyman T. Johnson Fellow by The Graduate School. The fellowship will provide a full tuition waiver, as well as a stipend for the upcoming
academic year.
Townsend comments, "Getting this fellowship is really a great honor to me, knowing a bit about its namesake, Lyman T. Johnson. And ever more so, its nice to know that both the University and College of Design feel that I deserve such an important and prestigous award. Being chosen to be a part of this fellowship will definitely relieve some stress in the upcoming year, and will allow me to focus on learning more and
gaining some expereince in my chosen field."
The award is named in honor of Lyman T. Johnson, the first african-american student at the University of Kentucky who led the charge for the University's integration in 1948.
