Purpose: To encourage qualified UK graduate students to seek external fellowship support from among specified fellowship programs.
Award Value: Up to 50 eligible graduate students will receive $150.00 for completing the application process for one of the fellowships on the designated list or, with approval, other external fellowships of equivalent magnitude. The award does not depend on the success of the proposal.
Students who are awarded the external fellowship may be eligible to apply for the Graduate Student Incentive Program award which provides an additional five percent of the total fellowship award value.
Eligibility Criteria for External Fellowships: Application awards will only be given in cases where the fellowship amount is at least $15,000 and the graduate student meets all eligibility criteria for the fellowship for which they are applying. In many of these competitions, to be eligible to apply, students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents pursuing Ph.D. degrees. Eligibility Criteria for External Fellowship Application Awards: A student must be currently enrolled in a UK graduate program when applying for these external fellowships and must plan to continue graduate study at UK until graduation.
Deadline and Nomination Process for External Fellowship Application Incentive: The entire application packet must be reviewed in the Funding Office prior to the deadline for submission. You must also include an endorsement of your application by your major advisor if one is not included in the application packet. The endorsement must include verification from the major professor that this is the applicant’s original work and has not been previously submitted for an application award.
