The economic impact of research at UK reaches across the state.
During Fiscal Year 2017, external research grants and contracts resulted in a $636.2 million contribution to the Kentucky economy, including $205.1 million in personal income. Each dollar of out-of-state external funding for research generates approximately $1.92 of total related expenditures.
During Fiscal Year 2016, external research funding to UK, totaling $274 million, resulted in $241 million in state taxes, 3,429 jobs across Kentucky and $511.3 million in statewide production.
