Daily Screening Coming Soon
All faculty, staff and students must do a daily self-assessment for possible symptoms before coming to campus. UK will provide and require a technology-based application for daily symptom checks and self-attestation.

Testing
All students—graduate, undergraduate and professional—who plan to come to campus for any reason, are required to be tested. UK is not requiring faculty and staff to be tested. However, UK is offering testing for faculty and staff who are symptomatic and will provide information about local testing sites for faculty and staff who, while asymptomatic, are interested in testing.

The "COVID-19: Back to Campus" optional course is now available in the UK Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) curriculum. This course for faculty, staff and students covers the background of the disease, how it likely spreads, recommendations by the CDC, NIH and OSHA, prevention methods, laboratory and research hygiene, mental health and well-being tips. The course also includes supplemental modules on specific areas such as research with human subjects and safe lab reactivation involving animal research. Note: This course does not replace the training modules under the UK Resumption of Research Phased Plan, and you will not receive credit for this course.

Q: Are undergraduate or high school students allowed in our research labs this fall?
A: According to the University of Kentucky Resumption of Research Phased Plan, page 8, undergraduates are not permitted on-campus for research purposes during Phase 2. The policy reads:
Undergraduate or high school volunteers will not be allowed in research workspaces for the duration of the pandemic. However, undergraduates who are staff on grants or contracts, or taking research for course credit, can be considered during more relaxed phases of operation (Phase 3, 4).
The institution is currently in Phase 2 of our Resumption of Research Phased Plan. The only exception to having an undergraduate in a campus lab during Phase 2 is if they are paid staff on a grant or contract and the PI seeks special permission. This will only be allowed in limited and special circumstances. In order for undergraduates to do research in on-campus spaces during Phases 3 and 4, they must be incorporated into the PI plans that describe the appropriate physical distancing arrangements and how any required training will be accomplished safely. If undergraduate or high school students can participate in research while working totally remotely, this activity is allowed and encouraged. |

To date, UK has received more than $68 million from the CARES Act, including funding for UK HealthCare, the College of Nursing, the Center for Excellence in Rural Health, and the Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship (VACE) in the Gatton College of Business and Economics.
