- Food Systems Initiative Intern
Kelly Walker is a senior Natural Resources and Environmental Science major from Louisville, Kentucky. She is interested in Environmental Communication and Sustainable Food Systems and Agriculture. She is a member of the Student Sustainability Council, a sustainability intern for the Food Connection on campus, a student assistant for the NRES Newsletter, and a co-columnist for “Environmental Fridays” with the Kentucky Kernel. Kelly helped organize the first annual Local Kentucky Food Systems Summit with the Food Connection for which she created short summary videos and graphics. This year, she hopes to assist in improving the already successful summit in its second year. Kelly also would like to implement an educational campaign on campus that focuses on local food and encourages students to think about the source of their food. Upon graduation, she hopes to find a career path that benefits the planet in some way. However, her dream is to provide sustainable, package-free food in Louisville through an education-focused business.
