UK Appalachian Center

Welcome

The University of Kentucky Appalachian Center aims to build robust partnerships with its diverse constituents to address the issues, challenges, and opportunities of importance in Appalachia.

We place great value on participatory and collaborative processes and therefore involve community-based partners and faculty in the design and implementation of our programs. An interdisciplinary approach is vital so that we may call on a wide range of expertise from across the campus and the region to generate the best possible benefit for the people in Appalachia.

Supporting Local Economic Development in Kentucky

At the request of President Lee Todd, the University of Kentucky Appalachian Center recently convened two retreats on local economic development.  The UK planning team for these events includes the leadership of the Kentucky Entrepreneurial Coaches Institute, the Small Business Development Center, and Cooperative Extension Rural Economic Development.
