The Graduate School

Fellowships

Update Your Address

Fellowships are available in all areas of graduate work and the majority carry a tuition scholarship as well as a stipend. Duration may be from one to three years, depending on fellowship type. While fellowships are formally awarded by the Graduate School, nominations for most fellowships are made by the department in which a student seeks to enroll. Contact the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) in the department you seek to enter for questions about the availability of fellowships and the application process. Students should indicate their interest in a fellowship to the DGS by January for the next academic year. Notification regarding awards comes from the Graduate School by May or earlier.
