Becoming an IBI Member

Eligibility

The following faculty at the University of Kentucky are invited to apply for membership in IBI:

  • Faculty conducting peer-reviewed research on the effective use of biomedical data, information, or knowledge to improve human health. Relevant areas of study include information science, computer science, biological science, biostatistics, medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, public health, behavioral health, and agriculture.
  • Clinical faculty who engage in translational or clinical informatics or provide leadership in developing translational or clinical data resources or services.

Application Process

The application process may be initiated at any time by submitting an application here.  Questions can be directed to Tamela Harper at tamela.harper@uky.edu or Megan Kidd at megan.kidd1@uky.edu. The Steering Committee will review applications and select candidates with the best fit for the Institute.

 

Membership review and renewal

On a yearly basis, members will submit for review an updated curriculum vitae and NIH biosketch including a summary of research, education, and service activities related to IBI.

Member responsibilities

IBI Members are expected to do the following:

  • Engage in team science to advance biomedical informatics at the University of Kentucky
  • Serve on IBI committees and perform other service duties as assigned
  • Participate in IBI seminars, training programs, and mentoring activities
  • Represent IBI at regional and national meetings in a professional manner
  • Provide updated information necessary for representing the activities of IBI members and its programs
  • Acknowledge IBI membership in informatics-related publications, either through author affiliation or within the acknowledgements section
