Directions to UK

The Light Microscopy Core is located in the basement of the Healthy Kentucky Research Building at 760 Press Avenue, Lexington KY 40508.

Coming from South-bound I-75
Take exit 113 for US-68 W/N Broadway. Turn right off of the exit. Follow N Broadway for 4.1 mi, then turn left onto Virginia Ave. Continue straight on Virginia and turn right on Press Avenue. The Healthy Kentucky Research Building will be on your left. See below for parking options. 

Coming from North-bound I-75

Take exit 113 for US-27/US-68 towards Lexington. Turn right onto US-27/US-68/North Broadway. Follow for 4.6 miles onto Virginia Avenue. Turn left onto Virginia Avenue. Follow for 0.3 before turning right onto Press Avenue. The Healthy Kentucky Research Building will be on your left. See below for parking options. 

Coming from the Bluegrass Parkway

Use exit 72A to exit the Bluegrass Pkwy onto US-60E/Lexington Rd for 7.4 mi. Turn right onto Red Mile Rd, then continue straight for 0.8 miles. Turn right onto Press Avenue. See below for parking options. 

Parking

Visitor Parking

Temporary passes (also called single day permits) cost $6 each, payable by cash, check (with driver's license), or credit card. They are not valid for entrance into gated parking facilities and must be displayed in the lower left-hand side of the windshield, on the driver's side and in clear view so that the expiration date is visible. These passes can be purchased at any of the following locations:

• Press Avenue Garage (PS #6, 721 Press Avenue)
• UK HealthCare Garage (110 Transcript Avenue)
• Cornerstone Garage (PS #5, 409 South Limestone)

Cornerstone Garage (PS #5)
The Cornerstone Garage has an entrance and exit on South Limestone and on Upper Street. The cost for parking is $2 per hour with a $16 per exit maximum. The Cornerstone Garage is free and open to the public on weekends, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday through 10 p.m. Sunday. Overnight parking is also permitted on Friday and Saturday nights, but all vehicles must exit the garage before 10 p.m. on Sunday. Parking for large groups must be arranged through Transportation Services' Special Event Coordinator. Events are scheduled on a first-come first-served basis, and advanced registration is required.

UK Employee Parking

The closest Employee parking is along Press Avenue in the parking garage. These spots require an E permit to be displayed. Additionally, parking spaces are available in front of the HKRB that require an Employee Core permit displayed at all times.

As parking can change based on seasons and events on campus, all visitors to the Core are encouraged to check the maps and updates available on the UK Transportation Service's website.

Finding Room 088

The Core is located in the basement of the Healthy Kentucky Research Building. The basement can be accessed without a keycard through the two elevators located on the right of the atrium next to the Starbucks.
