Dr. Jones is a professor of Geosciences and chair of the Department of Physics, Geosciences & Astronomy at EKU. Since joining the EKU faculty in 1997 her research, teaching, and environmental planning has focused on the relationship between land use and water quality in the “cow country” and “coal country” of central and eastern Kentucky. She is a long time volunteer, trainer, and science advisor for the citizen-monitoring group Kentucky River Watershed Watch, and also serves on the board for the Kentucky Conservation Committee—which advocates in Frankfort for the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of natural resources. When she’s not teaching or sticking a probe in a creek, Jones is likely in her garden or on stage with one of several Bluegrass-area community theaters.
