Devan graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with bachelor’s degrees in Geology and Geographic Information Science (GIS) and has been working for the KGS for over a year on grant-funded projects from the United States Geological Survey, specifically the KY Geoframework initiative and the EarthMRI project. Devan is also a part of the 2023 State Hazard Mitigation Plan for Kentucky. Devan hopes to attend graduate school at the University of Kentucky to earn a master’s degree and a PhD, thereafter, likely focusing on the field of environmental geoscience with GIS applications. Devan is also well-versed in the U.S. political landscape, having independently studied politics since high school. Devan wishes to use the plentiful knowledge about geoscience and the Earth’s climate systems attained through formal education to better inform and guide the public’s understanding of earth science and how it affects each of us.
