Following on previous work in the water resources field, Malissa McAlister has served as the Kentucky River Basin Coordinator since 2001.  In this role, she acts as a liaison between concerned citizens and relevant local, state and federal agencies to better understand and address water quality concerns.  Malissa also helps with the coordination of Watershed Watch in Kentucky, a volunteer organization that enables citizen scientists to sample waterways of interest and assess their results.  She also helps with a variety of policy initiatives to improve water management across Kentucky through professional networking, educational forums, and public outreach.  Through her work, she frequently observes connections between climate and water issues, and Ms. McAlister would like to better understand and utilize these connections to better address climate change impacts.  She also hopes to assist the Consortium through public outreach and engagement efforts to elevate an understanding and appreciation of climate change concerns in Kentucky.
