Continuing Mandatory Education
The GUIDE for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals states the following: "Continuing education programs should be offered to reinforce training and provide updates that reflect changes in technology, legislation, and other relevant areas." IACUC Document 106 (pdf, 2pgs) defines the University of Kentucky's plan to ensure compliance with the continuing education requirements for all personnel listed on an active protocol.
Complete every three (3) years: “Working with the IACUC” or “Refresher: Working with the IACUC” which can be accessed through AALAS Learning Library AND one course, of your choice, from the DLAR workshops or on-line courses listed below. Each course/workshop earns one continuing education credit.
The Office of the Attending Veterinarian (OAV) offers a Training Requirements Checklist (pdf, 1pg) to assist you in locating and completing all training resources relevant to animal research and lab work. In addition to IACUC requirements, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, and Financial Disclosure/Conflict of Interest training resources are identified. The checklist is for your own personnel use and retention only and does not need to be submitted to the IACUC.

NOTE: Initial mandatory education courses do not count toward continuing education credit. Listed below are some of the courses available through the AALAS Learning Library.
