Mark Crocker and CAER research scientist Yaying Ji have developed and patented a novel technology that addresses the problem of removing nitrogen oxides (NOx) from exhaust gas when a vehicle is first started and the gas is still cold.

The STS-ISC project will implement and test interventions to over 1,000 professionals and create free tools and resources that will be accessible to the global community of trauma workers and resource parents.

This project will inform suicide-related advocacy, education, research and treatment and is being funded by a nearly $100,000 grant through the Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Awards Program, an initiative of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).

For the RAPID project, the team will create a membrane mask and other flat sheet materials with a more porous and spongy structure that will include charged domain and enzymes, which would capture and effectively deactivate SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

UK Physics and Astronomy has received its first Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). This highly competitive program will help provide research opportunities for students from regional colleges.

NSF Fellows receive a three-year annual stipend of $34,000 along with a $12,000 cost of education allowance for tuition and fees for a research-based master's or doctoral degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) field.

A group of UK professors and scientists efforts to identify possible direct therapeutic approaches to treat COVID-19 was published in the Perspectives section of the most recent issue of Science, a journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

UK researchers have launched antibody testing that will help to understand what immunity to COVID-19 really means. The research is part of UK’s CURE Alliance team, which is uniting UK researchers across disciplines in the fight against the novel coronavirus.
