Toys with a Purpose is a new intergenerational initiative that will establish a lending library to support child development and promote learning through play by improving access to free adapted toys in Eastern Kentucky.
The University of Kentucky Center of Excellence in Rural Health (UK CERH) and a network of community partners are joining forces to intensify efforts to increase vaccination rates in a 32-county region of Appalachia Kentucky and neighboring counties in West Virginia.
This series will feature presentations from graduate and undergraduate students covering topics ranging from poetry to cancer research to education to local foods.
The curriculum includes information on cancer data and risk factors in the region, follows national and state science and health education standards, and is tailored to cultural aspects of Appalachian Kentucky.
