Chellgren Center for Undergraduate Excellence to Host Information Session March 20

The Chellgren Center for Undergraduate Excellence will host an information session at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, in Room 200 of the Funkhouser Building to inform students about  the Chellgren Center Enrichment Groups, which meet during the fall term, and the Chellgren Student Fellows Program. To attend the information session, attendees must register by noon Tuesday, March 19.

The Chellgren Center was created in 2005 with a vision to create and implement strategies for assuring that the institutional assets of UK are aligned to support undergraduate excellence. Through programs like Chellgren Student Enrichment and the Chellgren Fellows, the Chellgren Center has impacted students across campus, preparing them for life beyond UK.

Both of these enriched activities are designed to provide experiences for outstanding undergraduates that go beyond classroom instruction. Chellgren staff and faculty mentors want to help participants cultivate extraordinary academic and personal achievement. To participate in the enrichment groups students must be nominated by a faculty member, advisor or professional staff member. Following a nomination, students must complete an online application and then a sit-down interview. The program welcomes interest from all students in all academic disciplines.

The Chellgren Student Enrichment Program allows selected students to participate in specific academic enrichment groups on a topic that is consistent with one or more nationally competitive awards. Their work is monitored by a faculty member with expertise in the group's topic of study.

To learn more about programs offered through the Chellgren Center, register for the information session here. Applications will be available to students to apply for the Chellgren Student Fellows Program after the information session. For more information contact the program coordinator at chellgrencenter@uky.edu.
