NIH's Effort to Remove Duplicate eRA Commons Accounts

NIH investigators/scientists should have only one eRA Commons account that follows them throughout their research career so that NIH has accurate information to track the careers of NIH funded researchers, make the proper association of committee service for a reviewer to determine Continuous Submission status and appropriately track their grant record history.

NIH recently announced that they are contacting PIs who have duplicate accounts in Common.  Some PIs were contacted recently and more will receive emails from NIH in the next two weeks. Please note that no action should be taken, however, until the email is received. PIs will be instructed to go to the new Account Verification screen (under the Admin tab) in Commons, confirm that the accounts belong to him or her, and then select the one that they prefer as their permanent account.  The NIH data quality staff will then collapse or converge the data from the multiple accounts to the preferred one.

Please contact your OSPA CGO or RA if you have any questions about your NIH eRA Commons account.
