President Capilouto has asked UK Vice President for Research Lisa Cassis to designate the UNITed In racial Equity (UNITE) Research Initiative as a Research Priority Area — one of now seven such research programs across the campus.

"Our outstanding researchers at the University of Kentucky are leading the way in translational chemical biology, and the recently awarded COBRE grant is a testament to UK CPRI’s success in their constant pursuit of discovery," said UK President Eli Capilouto.

“We all want to grow Kentucky’s tech sector and create the high-paying, knowledge-based jobs that follow. A big part of doing so is turning Kentucky’s own academic research and development capabilities into commercially viable products and startups.”

KYNETIC, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is excited to announce that five of the seven projects recently awarded $50,000 to bring their innovations toward product development are from the University of Kentucky.

This student-nominated award recognizes UK faculty members who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to mentoring undergraduate researchers, providing exceptional undergraduate research experiences, as well as supporting and promoting the undergraduate research initiatives on campus.

Dutch is leading the College of Medicine’s COVID-19 Unified Research Experts (CURE) Alliance team, which brings together faculty expertise from multiple disciplines across the university to focus on advising COVID-19 patient care and clinical trials based on emerging research.

Supported by XLerateHealth, a health care startup accelerator in Louisville, Kentucky, and by UK, EnRICH is an outgrowth of NIH funding UK received in October 2018 — $3.5 million over three years — to create the XLerator Network.

The five-year reaccreditation process involved an AAHRPP application consisting of some 1,700 pages, completed by ORI staff, describing the HRPP at UK and culminated with a two-day site visit.

Under the enhanced UKAccel, the Launch Blue team will provide professional development and experiential learning to UK innovators who are interested in learning the best commercialization path for their technology.

CCTS is partnering with NCATS, the National Center for Data to Health, and around 60 other clinical institutions affiliated with the NCATS Clinical and Translational Science Awards Program to leverage big data in the fight against COVID-19.
