Students Encouraged to Attend Summer Research and Creative Experience Expo

OUR SRE 2022

Undergraduates at the University of Kentucky are an important part of our world-renowned research. From summer programs to paid and volunteer research positions, there are many ways for our students to contribute to high-impact research and creative work early in their careers.

The Summer Research and Creative Experience Expo gives students from all majors, backgrounds and skill levels the chance to learn about research and creative opportunities available both on- and off-campus, with particular focus on opportunities that are available this coming summer term. From noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, around the Gatton Student Center Social Staircase, students can discover the diversity of research and creative work conducted at UK, network with research faculty and staff, learn about mentored summer research and creative opportunities, and gather information on fellowship opportunities.

“The goals for the Expo are to bring research mentors and program directors together with interested students, increase awareness that these great opportunities exist for our students and help the recruiting efforts of our colleges, departments, and programs,” said Chad Risko, faculty director of the UK Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR).

Prior to the event, students should view the full list of programs attending and research key program guidelines and requirements, if any.

Students who are seeking assistance with navigating the application process, such as completing a personal statement, writing an abstract or proposal, may visit the Events page on the OUR website for guidance. Students may attend virtual drop-in hours or scheduled appointments, as well as in-person meetings at the Funkhouser Building on campus.
